Dr. Cowan is Associate Professor of Philosophy and Apologetics at Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also on staff with the Apologetics Resource Center and the editor of their apologetics magazine Areopagus Journal. He is the general editor of Five Views on Apologetics (Zondervan, 2000) with contributors, William Lane Craig, Gary Habermas, John Frame, Kelly James Clark, and Paul D. Feinberg, as well as editor of Who Runs the Church: Four Views on Church Government (Zondervan, 2004) with contributors Paige Patterson, Peter Toon, L. Roy Taylor, and Samuel Waldron. Both books are part of the “Counterpoints Series” published by Zondervan Publishing House. Dr. Cowan is a member of the Evangelical Theological Society, the Evangelical Philosophical Society, the Society of Christian Philosophers, and the American Philosophical Association. He is an adjunct professor at Birmingham Theological Seminary and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Cowan earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Southern Mississippi; an M.Div. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Arkansas.
