This Sunday, we join thousands of United Methodist congregations as we celebrate UMCOR Sunday.

Over and over, the alarms of crisis and devastation demand our attention. Many do not have the connection or the understanding of how to help—but we do. Our participation in this important ministry allows UMCOR staff to jump into action right at the most urgent moments.

Your gift to the UMCOR Sunday offering helps defray UMCOR’s operating costs. Your generosity allows UMCOR to use 100% of additional designated funds for specific programs like U.S. disaster response, international disaster response and global migration. Your support deepens the connection between the local church and ministries on a global scale.

The St. Matthias UMC Food Pantry will be distributing Easter Baskets to our families again this year. Through your generous donations to the Food Pantry SDA, we will provide each family with either a turkey, turkey breast, or oven stuffer roaster and cream cheese, carrots, celery, and lettuce.

Please have all donations to the church by Thursday, March 30, so that we have time to pack the baskets for distribution on Monday, April 3rd. Your contributions will enable a family to enjoy a wonderful Easter dinner.

..that we can save a lot of money on church office supplies by recycling used printer cartridges? Place your used cartridges in the cubby marked for them in memorial hall. Thank you in advance!

There us also a cubby for old eyeglasses, which we have several ways to recycle. Put old glasses and glasses cases in the cubby. Let's be good stewards of our many blessings!

Hey St. Matthias family! Put those old tee shirts of yours to good use! They can be turned into tote bags, which the Food Co-op will use instead of plastic bags. Shirts can be put into the labeled blue "box" in the entryway. Thanks!!

MICAH COLD WEATHER SHELTER NEEDS 

VOLUNTEERS: The need for volunteers is Friday morning at Trinity Episcopal Church and Monday morning at Fairview Baptist Church. A group of 3-4 people is needed to serve a light breakfast and coffee from 7:30-9:00am. Expect to serve about 40 people. Contact Jim Davis at 540.642.6690 more information.

COLD WEATHER SHELTER SUPPLIES:

Here is a list of needs this season:

1. New pillows. (We have PLENTY of pillowcases.)

2. Thermals (aka long-johns) in various sizes

3. Sweatpants and plain T-shirts in various sizes

(for those who need a simple change of  clothes when  they arrive at the shelter)

4. 12-packs of sodas, as always.

(Dr Pepper and Ginger Ale seem like very popular choices at CWS this season.)
