Romans 12:2 The Voice
Do not allow this world to mold you in its own image. Instead, be transformed from the inside out by renewing your mind. As a result, you will be able to discern what God wills and whatever God finds good, pleasing, and complete.
As believers of Jesus Christ filled with the Holy Spirit we have power and authority. We know in Luke chapter 9 that Jesus gave power and authority over everything demonic to his disciples. They went out and accomplished what Jesus sent them to do, and set an example for us. Our instructions are not the same as the disciples. We are simply told to not allow the world to mold us into its image. We are to use our power and authority to resist being like the world. And we can do that because of the power and authority we have.
What does it look like when we resist the world, when we don’t conform? We don’t look, think, or behave like the world. We have to realize that we don’t have to conform to anything in the world. We don’t have to follow the patterns that everyone else does. Jesus showed us that by walking on water, raising the dead, and feeding multitudes with just a little bit. He was different in order to accomplish God’s will. We can’t be different to be independent or to prove our own points. We have to use our power only for God’s will. So first, we need to realize that we don’t have to be in the world’s image. We don’t have to follow the steps everyone else takes to success. We don’t have to wait for our time for promotions. We don’t have to outwork everyone else or tear others down to get ahead. Instead we can be like Jesus. We can offer Him our little and watch miracles happen for multitudes. We can believe Him for grades, opportunities, and promotions. We can operate in His grace. The scripture says as a result of us resisting being like the world we’ll be able to know what God’s will is. We’ll understand how He is working and how we can join in. We can accomplish great things for God.
Thank you Lord for this power to resist being in the world’s image. Give me the desire to be different. Open the eyes of my understanding so that I can truly see what’s going on in the world. Help me to live by faith so that I can believe for the impossible in my life, and keep me focused on You and Your glory. In Jesus’ Name…
