2 Corinthians 3:17 The Passion Translation
Now, the “Lord” I’m referring to is the Holy Spirit, and wherever he is Lord, there is freedom.
I was having a conversation and the lady said she stopped to think about what freedom would look like. Have you ever done that? We take freedom for granted as Americans, or we fuss about things infringing on our freedom like mandates, but as believers have we looked into the Word to define freedom? In this letter to the church at Corinth, Paul declares a truth that we know in our heads, but don’t necessarily live in our lives. He said, where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty. Let’s just think about that for a minute.
First of all, freedom doesn’t exist without the Spirit of the Lord. To make that even clearer, The Passion Translation helps us see the Holy Spirit needs to be Lord in the situation for freedom to occur. We can be a Holy Ghost believing church, but if we won’t let Him be Lord in the church service then there won’t be any freedom. You’ve probably experienced that at some point in time. Well, that’s the reason why. Whatever the situation, wherever you are if you want freedom, you have to allow the Holy Spirit to be in charge. When He is the Lord, you have true freedom.
Lord, I call you Lord, now help me to live like You are my Lord. I submit myself to You. I give up everything- my will, my way of doing things, and my expectations. I know that in surrender I will find freedom. In Jesus’ Name...
