Lamentations 3:21-26 ESV
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him." The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
Jeremiah looked at the devastation that was happening around Him and declared, “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” It was a hard time for him, but he recognized that even the destruction of life as he knew it was because God was faithful and kept His Word. In Deuteronomy 28, before they were a nation or had a king Moses told Israel that the Lord said if they were disobedient He would cause their enemies to defeat them. The people were disobedient, and after giving them many chances to get it right, the Lord kept His word. In 2 Timothy 2:13, Paul told Timothy that even if we are faithless God will remain faithful. He cannot be untrue to Himself. If He said He will do something then He will. He will keep His Word, and He has been proving that for generations.
In Genesis 8:22 the Lord said, “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” He has been faithful about each of these natural phenomena on the earth. If God has kept His Word about day and night then He will be faithful about His Word to make you more than an overcomer. He will be faithful to His Word that you can do all things through Christ Jesus. He will be faithful to His Word that you will reap what you sow. He will be faithful to His Word to give you life and life more abundantly. And if we are not living in the blessing of God’s faithfulness, it is not His fault. God cannot be anything other than faithful, so it is up to us to examine ourselves and find out what we need to do to be in that place of God’s blessing. It’s time for us to reap the blessings that come from God’s faithfulness.
Thank You Lord for your faithfulness. Thank You that while I was a sinner You died for me. Thank You for never changing Your nature. Help me to be faithful to You the way You are to me. In Jesus’ Name…
