Today is Cyber Monday and analysts expect that consumers will spend $9.4 billion just today. That will bring the total spending for the long holiday weekend, which includes Thanksgiving and Black Friday, to over $30 billion. Unfortunately much of that spending will be done by those who can't really afford it but who are caught up in the frenzy to get a "good deal" on items they don't really need. It's no wonder that last year the average American racked up over $1,200 in holiday debt. And unfortunately, there is no reason to think that the statistics for those who are disciples of Jesus are much different.
But we have a precious gift to give others this time of year. one that will not put us in financial bondage - the gift of eternal life. Some studies indicate that as many as 80% of people who receive a personal invitation to attend church will accept that invitation and people are even more open to that kind of invitation during the holiday season. I'm sure we all know someone who could benefit from learning about how God is with us this month. So won't you invite someone to come hear that message?
Walking with you toward Jesus,
