    The God Who Speaks

    "The God Who Speaks"

    Summer Video Series and Discussion:

Session 1 this Sunday at 9:40 A.M. in the Family Center

    Discussion Questions:

    1. What is the difference between general (or natural) revelation and special revelation?
    2. Why are those distinctions important?
    3. What does God's speaking to humanity demonstrate about Himself?
    4. What do the 10 Commandments reveal about God and about us?
    5. What would you say to someone who says that God is unknowable?

These questions (and more) will be answered in Session 1 this Sunday morning.

Significant passages to consider ahead of time: Psalm 19; Rom. 1:18-23; 1 Cor. 2:6-16; Jer. 9:23-26; Job 26.

See you all Sunday morning, Lord willing.

Greetings to you all. Today is the first of the month, so Sunday School will be an open forum. Bring your general questions with you, but if you have more technical questions, please comment to this post with those questions and I will do my best to answer them. What Questions do you want answered?

        Q.U.E.S.T.

This Sunday, we are back to our year long QUEST.

This month we consider the Spiritual Discipline of serving (gifts).

A book that will deepen your study of the subject is: "Understanding Spiritual Gifts." It is a verse-by-verse study of 1 Cor. 12-14...straight from the Bible is the best reading you can do.

Here is a link to help: Understanding Spiritual Gifts

Also, refer to the printed or .pdf workbook attached for an overview of our 6th of 8 Spiritual disciplines that aid us in Spiritual Transformation. Included are things to read, consider, and do that will deepen your Understanding of the Gifts God has given His church...the body of Christ.

1  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!  2  Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits,  3  who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,  4  who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,  5  who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5

Judges 6-7, Gideon and the 300 Israelites, God often does more with less, overcomes many with few, and gives victory over the mighty to the downtrodden. Amen.

A TRIP TO ISRAEL Attached is a flyer describing a trip this coming November our church is sponsoring to Israel. If we are able to get a minimum of 20, then our travels and sight-seeing will be exclusive to our group, give us greater control over each day, and allow us to provide our own devotionals and comments. You can register and pay your deposit online or by filling out completely and mailing in the attached restoration form with a check for the deposit. Online registration can be found here: https://christianexpedition.com/tour/israel-expedition-with-washington-baptist-church/ Some considerations that might not be highlighted in the attached brochure: Christian Expedition uses an Israeli Tour company whose goal it is to provide Christian tour guides exclusively The prices are quoted for round trip from Newark, NJ airport, so each participant would be responsible for getting to that airport at the appropriate time and back home upon our return (unless coming as a family or church group who arrange for their own travel to Newark). From that point until the return to Newark, the entire group would travel together. Newark to Tel Aviv flight will be a direct flight, so it reduces the chance of lost luggage and multiple customs requirements. This is a similar tour to what Edy and I did in January. One of the things we appreciated most was the balanced perspectives at each site we visited, noting not only Biblical significance, but also comparing what is truly known with that which just represents what are possible sites. At this time, Israel has dropped all of it's Covid travel restrictions, so at least at this point, it does not look like anyone going will have to go through all Edy and I did by way of PCR tests, vaccines, or boosters in order to go. Since this trip is so similar to what Edy and I did and with the same travel company, we likely will be able to answer any of the questions that might come to mind. Please reach out to us with any questions you might have. This was a perspective changing trip for Edy and I as we now read the Bible, being able to picture the physical places throughout Israel and we are confident it will do the same for you. This was a trip of a life-time that we experienced and now want to share the experience with you. Come Join Edy and I on this adventure of a lifetime.  See attached brochure for details.

Here are the Results from our March Blood Drive and our partnership with the American Red Cross to provide for this significant need in our community. "I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I wanted to share the results of another fantastic blood drive! We collected 31 units of blood on a goal of 33. These 31 units of blood will go on to help 93 patients in need. The Jefferson Health and Washington Baptist combo are truly amazing! In the past 6 months alone, you have collected 101 units to help 303 people! We appreciate you! I’m looking forward to your next blood drive on Friday, June 17th. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. THANK YOU!"   Jessica Lanneaux l Account Representative American Red Cross Thank you Washington Baptist Church for your willing participation in helping our community. We had great conversations with many...there are more and more people realizing the location of the church, and our community is being blessed by your efforts in a real and physical way. May God be glorified in it all.
              1. Amen
