Dr. Pinson received his B.A. from the University of North Texas in Denton and his M.Div. and Th.D., from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He served as the executive director of the Baptist General Convention of Texas from 1983-2000. Prior to becoming BGCT executive director, Pinson was president of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, California. Previously, he was pastor of First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and ethics professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He has authored and co-authored many books, his most recent is “Baptists and Religious Liberty” and “Who In the World are Baptists, Anyway?” He was co-editor for the publication, “Broadman Leadership Series” and has contributed to many magazines and journals including, “Southwestern Journal of Theology” and “The Baptist Standard.” He serves as executive director emeritus of the BGCT and volunteer director of the Texas Baptist Heritage Center. Dr. Pinson has had speaking engagements all around the world, in such places as: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Scotland, England, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, and Germany.
