Not As Lording Over Your Faith
    They Are His Joy
    Showing True Love

The One Who Grieved, 2 Corinthians 2:5

If Anyone Has Cause Grief, 2 Corinthians 2:5
    2 Corinthians 2:5
But if someone grieved, he did not grieve me, but from a part in order that I should not burden all of you.
Paul was not personally grieved by the one who grieved them
He speaks a bit about it so they are not burdened
Not being a financial burden to the Thessalonians, 1 Thessalonians 2:9; 2 Thessalonians 3:8
    1 Thessalonians 2:9 NASB95
For you recall, brethren, our labor and hardship, how working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
    2 Thessalonians 3:8 NASB95
    nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we kept working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you;
The burden we have being in this tent, 2 Corinthians 5:4
    2 Corinthians 5:4 NASB95
For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.
    Burdened with sleep, Luke 9:32
    Luke 9:32 NASB95
Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men standing with Him.
In Asia being excessively burdened, despairing even life, 2 Corinthians 1:8
    2 Corinthians 1:8
For we do not desire for you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning our tribulation, the one having come to us in Asia, that just as we were excessively burdened, beyond [our] natural ability, so that we despaired also to live.

The Punishment by the Many Was Sufficient, 2 Corinthians 2:6

    2 Corinthians 2:6
Sufficient is the punishment to such a one, the same [punishment] which was from the many,
Paul is referring to the man kicked out of the Church, 1 Corinthians 5:1-5
    1 Corinthians 5:1–5 NASB95
It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father’s wife. You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
The Assembly Did Not Need to Administer More Punishment
    Properly Dealing with Erring Christians
The One Not Obeying the Word Given through Paul, 2 Thessalonians 3:14
    2 Thessalonians 3:14 NASB95
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.
Separate from this person, 2 Thessalonians 3:14
    2 Thessalonians 3:14 NASB95
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.
Admonish, but do not treat as an enemy, 2 Thessalonians 3:15
    2 Thessalonians 3:15 NASB95
Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Admonishment is to put to one’s mind
The Word of the Christ should dwell in us richly, admonishing us, Colossians 3:16
    Colossians 3:16 NASB95
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
Admonish those who are unruly (out of rank), 1 Thessalonians 5:12
    1 Thessalonians 5:12 NASB95
But we request of you, brethren, that you appreciate those who diligently labor among you, and have charge over you in the Lord and give you instruction,
Do Not Associate with fornicators, 1 Corinthians 5:9
    1 Corinthians 5:9 NASB95
    I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people;
Do Not Associate with a Brother Who is a fornicator, Greedy, an Idolater, Abusive, Drunkard, Swindler, 1 Corinthians 5:11
    1 Corinthians 5:11 NASB95
But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
One Who is Factious (a follower of false doctrine) is to be admonished twice, then refuse, Titus 3:10
    Titus 3:10 (NASB95)
Reject a factious (αἱρετικὸν) man after a first and second warning (νουθεσίαν),
Do Not Be Deceived, You Are the One That is Negatively Impacted By Those Doing Wrong Around You, 1 Corinthians 15:33
    1 Corinthians 15:33 (NASB95)
Do not be deceived: “Bad (κακαί) company (ὁμιλίαι companion) corrupts (φθείρουσιν) good (χρηστὰ useful) morals.”

    Being Gracious, 2 Corinthians 2:7-8

The One Punished Should be Treated With Grace, 2 Corinthians 2:7
    2 Corinthians 2:7
so that on the contrary you are to graciously give and encourage more. Lest by the abundance of grief that one is swallowed up.
Paul Does Not Use the Word “Forgive”
We Treat Each Other With Grace
Gracious as God is Gracious, Ephesians 4:32
    Ephesians 4:32 NASB95
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
Gracious Towards Yourself and Others, Colossians 3:13
    Colossians 3:13 NASB95
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
God was gracious to us in Christ, while we were dead in our trespasses He made us alive in Christ, Colossians 2:13
    Colossians 2:13 NASB95
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
Eternal life is a gracious gift, Romans 6:23
    Romans 6:23 (NASB95)
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift (χάρισμα) of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
It is in addition to the gift of righteousness (salvation), Romans 5:15
    Romans 5:15
But not as the trespass, thus also is the gracious gift. For since by the trespass of the one [man] the many died, how much more the grace from God and the gift (of righteousness) by grace by the one man Jesus Christ abounds unto the many.
    God Forgives
When we agree with Him that we have sinned, 1 John 1:9
    1 John 1:9 NASB95
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Happy are those who are forgiven, Romans 4:7
    Romans 4:7 NASB95
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered.
The Vow of the Mentally ill (Due to a wrong act committed by them), James 5:15
    James 5:15 NASB95
and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.

Marking Those who Do Wrong, 2 Thessalonians 3:14
    2 Thessalonians 3:14 NASB95
If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person and do not associate with him, so that he will be put to shame.
We do not associate with them
A Person Who Has Repented We are Gracious Towards
This does not mean to allow them to harm you again, or even be in a position to harm you
Gracious is permitting them to be edified by the Body of the Christ (The Church) without considerations of merit.
Punishment is Not Meant to Swallow Someone in Grief, 2 Corinthians 2:7
    2 Corinthians 2:7
… Lest by the abundance of grief that one is swallowed up.
Satan seeks to swallow up those who are not prepared, 1 Peter 5:8
    1 Peter 5:8 NASB95
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

    2 Timothy 4:2 NASB95
preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.
Rebuking is for Correction, Not Causing Excessive Grief
    Reaffirming Love, 2 Corinthians 2:8
    2 Corinthians 2:8 (NASB95)
Wherefore I encourage you to confirm unto him love
