Washing of Renewing by the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit Washes, Titus 3:5
    Titus 3:5 (NKJV)
not by (ἐξ) works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
Cleansed of our sins, 2 Peter 1:8-9
    2 Peter 1:8–9 NKJV
For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
we have received all things pertaining to life and godliness. Using our faith
Christ Himself Cleansed Our Sins by His Blood, Hebrews 1:3
    Hebrews 1:3 NKJV
who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
Purged is to cleanse. His blood is applied to us by the Holy Spirit
The Act of Renewing Gives us a Renewed Mind, Romans 12:2
    Romans 12:2
And stop being outwardly conformed to this age, but to be transformed by your renewed mind, for the purpose to test for approval what is the desirous will of God, the good and well pleasing and mature.
With the New Mind We Are Transformed
This Renewed Mind Comes from a Saved Spirit
The Spirit searches the heart and knows the mind of the spirit, Romans 8:26-27
    Romans 8:26–27 (NKJV)
Moreover, likewise also the Spirit together helps our weaknesses, for what thing we should communicate for, as far as it is necessary, we do not intuitively know, but the Spirit Himself intercedes on our behalf with inexpressible groans. Indeed, the one searching the heart intuitively knows what the frame of mind is of the spirit, because according to God He intercedes on behalf of the saints.
Involves thinking according to the New Man, Ephesians 4:22-24
    Ephesians 4:22–24 NKJV
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
The New Man is Who We Are in Christ
Christ abolished the law, creating in Himself one new man, Ephesians 2:15
    Ephesians 2:15 NKJV
having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
This New Creation is what matters, Galatians 6:14-16
    Galatians 6:14–16 NKJV
But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.
The New Creation is Referred to as the Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:17
    2 Corinthians 5:17
Wherefore, since someone is in Christ; a new creation, the archaic things have passed away, behold, all things have become new
The New Creation is Christ as the Head and the Church as the body, Ephesians 1:22-23
    Ephesians 1:22–23 NKJV
And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
We are to put on the new man as an outer garment, Ephesians 4:24
    Ephesians 4:24 NKJV
and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
The Necessity of Creation a New Man
Humans are of one creation, therefore since the head is corrupt the whole body is corrupt, Romans 5:12-13
    Romans 5:12–13 NKJV
Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—(For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
Death came through man, and through man the resurrection from the dead, 1 Corinthians 15:21
    1 Corinthians 15:21 NKJV
For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead.
The First Adam was a living soul, the Last Adam is a life-giving spirit, 1 Corinthians 15:45-48
    1 Corinthians 15:45–48 NKJV
And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.

Washing of Regeneration by the Holy Spirit

    Regenerated - Born again
With an incorruptible seed, 1 Peter 1:23
    1 Peter 1:23 NKJV
having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
God is Spirit - Those born of God are spirit, John 4:24
    John 4:24 NKJV
God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
God’s sees is placed in us , 1 John 3:9
    1 John 3:9 NKJV
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.
Since God’s seed is in us, we can no longer habitually sin
We Become Children of God, 1 John 3:1-2
    1 John 3:1–2 NKJV
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
It is a birth from above, John 3:3
    John 3:3 (NKJV)
Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born from above (ἄνωθεν), he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
What is our spirit? 1 Corinthians 2:11
    1 Corinthians 2:11 (NKJV)
For what man knows (οἶδεν) the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows (ἔγνωκεν) the things of God except the Spirit of God.
    Humans are tri-part beings, 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Spiritual death is separation from God in the human spirit, Romans 5:15
    Romans 5:15 NKJV
But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
Those who are spiritually dead primary function from their soul and cannot understand the things of the Spirit, 1 Corinthians 2:14
    1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
We are in the Likeness and Image of Adam, who was created in the likeness and image of God
    Adam, Genesis 1:26
    Genesis 1:26 NKJV
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
    All Adam’s offspring, Genesis 5:3
    Genesis 5:3 NKJV
And Adam lived one hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.
Likeness relates to spirit, a rational being
Image for Adam was a garment of light, for us after he was stripped, Genesis 3:7
    Genesis 3:7 NKJV
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
All Humans, saved and unsaved possess all three parts, for without body, soul, and spirit we are not human

The Impact of the Washing of Regeneration and Renewing

The ability to understanding spiritual things 1 Corinthians 2:15-16
    1 Corinthians 2:15–16 (NKJV)
But he who is spiritual discerns (ἀνακρίνει) all things, yet he himself is discerned (ἀνακρίνεται) by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord? The one knit together with Him, and we have a quality of the mind of Christ.
Washing of Renewing by the Holy Spirit
    Gives us a renews mind
    Cleansed us from all sin
Washing of Regeneration by the Holy Spirit
Born again from an incorruptible seed
    Impacts our ability to sin
    Legitimate children of God
