    Christ was before Him
    From a human perspective, John is about 6 months older than Christ, Luke 1:39-42

    Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
    John recognizes Christ preeminence
    Grace instead of favor through Christ, John 1:16

    And out from His fullness we all received, and grace instead of favor.
    The concept of grace in the Old Testament
    Mary being told she will bear the Christ, Luke 1:30

    Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
    Noah, Genesis 6:8-9

    But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.
    In Response to Those who Walk Upright, Psalm 84:11

    For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.
    During the Millennial Kingdom, Luke 6:33-34

    And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back.
    Something is Coming to be that Did not Exist Before, John 1:17

    Because the law was given through Moses. The grace and the truth came to be through Jesus Christ
    Grace to the Church is God’s attitude whereby He gives a benefit without consideration of merit
    This attitude is show to Jesus, Luke 2:40

    And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him.
    As Christ was under the law, we also see God’s favor, Luke 2:52

    Favor Instead of Grace, John 1:16 “And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”
    Against (ἀντί) is the preposition being used
    Herod reigning instead of Archelaus, Matthew 2:22

    But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee.
    Evil is not to be paid in response to evil, Romans 12:17

    Deception will be in place of truth to those who are alive when the man of lawlessness rises, 2 Thessalonians 2:10

    and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because (ἀνθʼ) they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
    Law is not of Grace, but there is Favor in law, Romans 10:5; Leviticus 18:5

    For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.”

    You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am the Lord.
    Health, Wealth, and Happiness for those who obey the law

    “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

    No Diseases, Exodus 15:26

    and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.”
    Christ Declares the Father in Action, John 1:18

    No one has seen with discernment Deity at any time. The one-of-a-kind Son, the One who was in the bosom of the Father, that One declares.
    Moses saw God, but did not see Deity in a way He could comprehend its fullness, Exodus 33:18-20

    And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.” Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.” But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”
    In Christ, humans are able to see Deity, Hebrews 1:1-3

    God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

    The Testimony of John the Baptist, John 1:19-28

    The Pharisees sent priest and Levites from Jerusalem to question John, John 1:19
    John 1:19
    And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews out from Jerusalem sent priests and Levites in order that they should ask him, “Who are you?”
    Their questioning is one asking an equal, so more inquiring.
    They want to know who John is
    John agrees with them that he is not the Messiah, John 1:20

    And he confessed, and did not deny and confessed that, ‘I am not the Messiah.”
    Since John confessed, they would have had to inquire as it if he is the Messiah by saying something like “You are not the Messiah”
    Christ at this time means Messiah
    The Word “Christ” is redefined in Act 2 When Peter explains to the Jews that God has taken Jesus and make Him both Lord and Christ, Acts 2:36

    “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
    Within the Old Testament, Christ is referring to the Messiah - Approximately up to John 13
    In the New Testament, Christ is referring to the Resurrected Glorified Jesus
    They Inquire if John is Elijah or the Prophet, John 1:21

    And they asked him, “Who then? Are you Elijah?” And he said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” And he answered “No.”
    God promised He would send Elijah before Great day of the Lord, Malachi 4:5

    Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
    The Prophet was prophesied of by Moses, Deuteronomy 18:15

    They seek and answer from John so they can respond to those who sent them, John 1:22

    Therefore the said to him, “Who are you? In order that we should given an answer to the ones sending us. What do you say concerning yourself?”
    John informs them of Who he is, John 1:23

    He said, “I, a voice crying out in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord.” Just as Isaiah the prophet said
    Isaiah prophesied concerning John, Isaiah 40:3

    The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.
    John is declaring the coming of the Messiah
    They Inquire as to why John is immersing, John 1:24-25
    John 1:24–25
    And the ones sent were out from the Pharisees. And they asked him, and they said to him, “Therefore why do you immerse, since you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?
    John explains that the Messiah is already among them, John 1:26-27

    John answered them saying, “I immerse in water, but in the midst of you He stands, whom you do not intuitively know. This is the one coming after me, who came to be before me, and I am not worthy in order that I should loose the straps of His sandals.”
    This things were done in Bethabara, John 1:28

    These things came to be in Bethabara beyond of the Jordan, where John was immersing.
