“In addition, there is real weakness in understanding the Bible’s literary genres, causing dispensationalists to interpret language literally when the biblical author does not intend this. I press for interpreting the Bible naturally according to the literary genres of the time in which it was written.” (Page 75)
“Some in the Messianic community think the Church is pagan because it does not celebrate the right feast days. Some Christians think that Judaism is an aberration and even that Jewish people are no longer benefactors of God’s promises. Those of us in Messianic Judaism must understand the Church with a balanced perspective recognizing the Jewish connection. This, in turn, will be a positive step toward helping Christians correctly understand Jews and Messianic Jews.” (Page ix)
“The body of believers is called to be the commonwealth of Israel, modeling the same kind of oneness among ourselves that the Messiah modeled between him and the Father. This will move those of Israel who do not yet believe in Yeshua to jealousy and will hasten the Second Coming of the Messiah, Yeshua.” (Page 12)
“The doctrine of cessationism (the idea that some gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased after the apostolic period) is related to a rejection of the Jewish understanding of the Holy Spirit.” (Page 32)
“I believe Scriptures’ testimony is that Yeshua did not draw from his own divinity. He could have. He could have called for the twelve legions of angels and avoided the cross. But to be the perfect example for us, he lived as a human being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. In him we see the potential of a man filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Page 32)
