The Day God Died is a moving portrayal of the meaning and impact of Christ's Seven Last Words as spoken from the cross and set against the backdrop of His earthly life. No facet of this tremendous fact of history is overlooked as Dr. Strauss, with penetrating insight and deep reverence, examines the momentous events of the day Christ died—and their subsequent impact upon the world of His earthly pilgrimage. When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He did not die merely as God nor merely as a man, but rather as the unique God-Man. Just as the Incarnation was "God manifest in the flesh," so "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself." At no time did Christ lay aside His Deity. He was, is and ever shall be God, the eternal Son. Following an introductory chapter on the necessity of Christ's death, in terms of God's plan for the salvation of the world, Dr. Strauss illuminates each of the Seven Last Words in: Christ's Intercession Christ's Intervention Christ's Interests Christ's Isolation Christ's Identification Christ's Indemnity Christ's Invincibility A deeply significant look at the day Christ died — and the vital and vibrant message He spoke.
