Herschel Hobbs Commentary: Studying Adult Life and Work Lessons, Winter 1997-98

This quarter’s commentary focuses on“Called to Carry the Light,”“Issues of Life and Death,” and“Dimensions of Love.” God has a missionary plan, people, message, and call. As God’s missionary people, Christians are called to “carry the light” to a dark world. Life, death, sexual abuse, and suicide are important “issues of life and death” about which all believers should examine the Bible’s teaching. Friendship love, romantic love, Christian love, and God’s love are four “dimensions of love” God has blessed people with the capacity to experience and enjoy. The Herschel Hobbs Commentary contains expository treatment of each focal passage in the Adult Life and Work Bible studies for this quarter. The approach to each lesson contains: an introduction, an examination of the background necessary for understanding the lesson, and an exposition of the focal verses. Greek and Hebrew words are explained, the message of the Scripture is clarified, and its truth is applied to life. The Bible exposition is based on the King James Version.
