Overview

This quarter’s commentary focuses on these Study Themes:“Courage to Stand for God,”“Let’s Talk about Jesus,” and“Relationships Worth Improving.” “Courage to Stand for God” highlights the bold faith of Deborah; Gideon; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; and Esther. The examples of these biblical figures can give today’s believers a foundation for forming the courage it takes to live for God in our world. “Let’s Talk about Jesus” emphasizes Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection, establishment of the church, and promise to return. The lessons are designed to help learners respond to God’s love as demonstrated in Jesus’ life and work. “Relationships Worth Improving” focuses on biblical teachings and principles concerning one’s relationship with God, spousal relationships, parent-child relationships, sibling relationships, and relationships with friends. The Herschel Hobbs Commentary contains expository treatment of each lesson passage in the adult Family Bible Study curriculum for this quarter. The approach begins with the “Significance of the Lesson,” moves to “Search the Scriptures,” and concludes with “Spiritual Transformations.” Greek and Hebrew words are explained, the message of the Scripture is clarified, and its truth is applied to life. The Bible exposition is based on the King James Version.
