Overview

A grave danger lurks behind the seemingly friendly term of social justice. Contemporary social justice endangers our country, families, and, most importantly, the gospel of Jesus Christ. Social justice is, in many ways, a euphemism for cultural Marxism. What has made its threat even more treacherous is that cultural Marxism ideas have made their way into conservative evangelicalism and the Southern Baptist Convention. As long as Christians are led to believe that social justice is the same as God's justice, Christians will be facilitators of godless Marxism. They will be instruments of corrupting the gospel of Jesus Christ. This book biblically critiques social justice and prepares Christians to stand for God's impartial justice, truth, love, and the gospel.

“New terms have entered the vocabulary of both the Southern Baptist Convention and the evangelical world . . . words like: critical race theory, intersectionality, social justice, and woke. . . . Ronnie addresses the issues in a straightforward, benevolent, and respectful tone . . . this volume is a must-read.”

—Mark H. Ballard, President/Founder, Northeastern Baptist College

“Few evangelicals understand what is behind critical race theory, social justice, and intersectionality. Ronnie Rogers . . . adeptly explains these terms and why they should concern Christians—making his case entirely from the sufficiency of Scripture. If I were to read only one book this year, this would, without a doubt, be the one.”

—Z. Scott Colter, Executive Director, Sandy Creek Foundation

“Ronnie Rogers is a pastoral scholar who wields the truth of a biblical worldview . . . with which he shatters the lie that a Christian can embrace ‘social justice’ and critical race theory without destroying the basic teachings of Christ. . . . Settling this issue will allow Southern Baptists to reclaim their effective witness to the world.”

—Tom Hatley, Pastor, IBC Global Outreach Center

“The social justice agenda is both seductive and deceptive. . . . It is the antithesis of the gospel. Ronnie Rogers is one of the Southern Baptists’ greatest leaders and pastors. His highly accessible primer on this otherwise complex topic is a vital tool for a church increasingly awash in the philosophies of this world and bereft of the simple gospel. It is not just a must-read, but an urgent one.”

—Rod D. Martin, Founder and CEO, The Martin Organization, Inc.

Ronnie W. Rogers is pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, Norman, Oklahoma. He has a BA in biblical studies and an MS in counseling. He has presented at the Oxford Round Table and authored six other books. He served as president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, chairman of the Board of Trustees Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and chairman of the Nominating Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.
