If you are a homeschooler, or are married to one, you know it's true! This special breed of wife and mother is a largely unsung hero...that is until Todd Wilson decided to raise awareness, raise eyebrows, and raise some laughter. TODD WILSON is the founder of Familyman Ministries and is a writer, speaker, dad, and former pastor. Todd is author of Help! I'm Married to a Homeschooling Mom, The Official Book of Homeschooling Cartoons, and Lies Homeschooling Moms Believe. His articles have appeared in various magazines, including Christian Parenting Today, Men of Integrity, and Stand Firm. Todd and his wife Debbie, along with their seven children, spend several months of the year traveling the country encouraging moms and dads. When they’re not traveling, they reside in Milford, Indiana.
Dad, I applaud you for giving your family the privilege of being educated at home, and I sympathize with your plight of being married for a homeschooling mom. However, if you expect your wife to successfully pull off this homeschooling task, then she's going to need your help. Homeschooling is a tremendous undertaking. It can crush a woman who is forced to carry it alone. Homeschooling is at its best when the husband and wife shoulder its weight. Working as a team doesn't make it easy-that would be wishful thinking-but it does make it easier. Together, you can do almost anything. And with God's help and strength, you can do all things (Phil. 4:13).
