Described as the first historical book of Israel, the book Judges recounts the many revivals and subsequent failings of Israel after the conquest of Joshua. In his commentary on Judges, Paulus Cassel exegetically examines the text of Judges in order to show the theme and argument of Judges. Cassel not only offers his exegesis on the Hebrew text of Judges, but also includes both practical and homiletical comments as well, allowing the reader who is not familiar with Hebrew to follow along and profit from Cassel’s work.
Paulus Cassel was a professor in Berlin, Germany.
P. H. Steenstra was professor of biblical literature in the Protestant Episcopal School at Cambridge Massachusetts.
