A.B. Simpson (1843–1919) founded the Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA), an evangelical denomination emphasizing global missions, and today has six million members worldwide. Originally a Presbyterian minister in Canada, Simpson was an independent pastor for a time before founding the CMA. He emphasized the four-fold gospel—referencing Jesus as savior, sanctifier, healer, and coming king. He was also a profound influence on the later ministry of A.W. Tozer.
