- I don't have a review, as I have not purchased the update. The 2009 version is 239 pages by Wayne Grudem. This version is 240 pages by Wayne Grudem. I have been using this commentary in teaching 1 Peter to a small group. What is the difference in versions? What makes it worth spending an extra 11 dollars for multiple folks? I own the TNTC collection - what will be the cost of keeping it current? It is a great study and teaching resource.
- I emailed Grudem. If he responds, I'll post his answer to what is different about this version.
- Here's what an associate of Dr. Grudem says, "Dr. Grudem and the publisher are still finalizing some of the final details in the 2023 version, so it might end up being a little longer than 240 pages. However, in summary, the 2023 version will include additional material that is not in the previous versions, such as updated thoughts from Dr. Grudem on 1 Peter and more interaction with other recent commentaries."
- Thanks for the follow up. I will not likely purchase the update. IMHO updates for TNTC should be included if you own the set. Even without the updates Grudem's commentary is excellent!
- From the description I was expecting a companion study that followed the book, such that a small group could have both books and use this book as a study guide for going through Dr. Heiser's book. Not so. To quote the author "However, the primer does not follow the chapter sequence of The Unseen Realm, nor does it touch on everything discussed." This is not what I was expecting from a "companion". The content may be good, but was not what I was expecting.
