Consider the Children

Children are precious. They were brought into this world through no desire of their own. Many are abused, used as pawns, neglected, denied, and betrayed. Such is not fair.

Dr. R. F. Hertz, a British psychologist, engaged in a research project of wide interest. He has asked almost 100,000 children between 8 and 14, from all walks of life, in 24 countries, to list 10 rules of behavior for parents. Here is the list:

1.     Do not quarrel in front of children.

2.     Treat children with equal affection.

3.     Never lie to a child.

4.     Develop tolerance between parents.

5.     Maintain comradeship between parents and children.

6.     Treat your children’s friends as welcome visitors in the house.

7.     Always answer children’s questions.

8.     Do not blame or punish children in the presence of their friends.

9.     Concentrate on your child’s good points. Do not overemphasize his failings.

10.  Be constant in affection and mood.

11.

This list should cause parents to stop, look, and listen. Read it again carefully, thoughtfully, and with self-inspection and evaluation. How are children treated in your home? They deserve the best.

God gives this advice: “Do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).

There Is A Heaven : The 5 W's of Eternity

      • Colossians 3:16ESV

  • Heaven is the place where those who overcome in life, will experience eternity.
    Matthew 25:31–34 ESV
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
I would like to begin these 3 sermons on Heaven by talking about Eternity. Let’s take a look at the 5 W’s of Eternity...
    Let’s look at:
    What is Eternity?
    When is Eternity?
    Who is in Eternity?
    Why is Eternity
    Where is Eternity

    What is Eternity

Some people think of eternity as endless time
Eternity exists outside of time; Time began with creation..
You cannot measure eternity with time because eternity supersedes time
Our Bible teaches us the morning and the evening
Question: what was the state of affairs before that first day
we know there was existence before time...”let us...”
We also know time will end...
    English Standard Version Chapter 3

3 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

    Hebrews 1:1–2 ESV
1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
Eternity is a state of affairs outside of time...
Eternity is an experience not bound by time...
Eternity is before the beginning and after the end...
Eternity has always existed and will never cease existing...
Eternity is an age without borders...
    Heaven is in Eternity!
When things go well in our lives we don’t want it to end. That’s why we associate it with, “Heaven on Earth.”
Give me a little Heaven here on Earth we might say.
When things go bad in our lives we want them to end. It’s like Hell on Earth.

    When is Eternity

Eternity is right now for the Heavenly beings
God is not bound by time, He can exist outside of time
This is why God doesn’t see things the way we see things
    2 Peter 3:8 ESV
8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
one day to God is like a thousand years
    Can you imagine that?????
    1 day = 1,000 years or 25 Generations
    1 week = 7,000 years or 175 Generations
    1 year = 364,000 years or 9,100 Generations
Now I’m almost 60 years old
    60 years old times 364,000 years =
    21.84 million years/ 546,000 Generations
    of experience, knowledge and wisdom
I do not act my age!
We will be ushered into eternity
    Ecclesiastes 3:11 ESV
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

    Who is in Eternity

    Romans 16:26 ESV
26 but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith—
    Psalm 90:2 ESV
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
    Genesis 21:33 ESV
33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.
    The Father is eternal
    The Son is eternal
    John 8:58 ESV
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
There has never been a state of affairs where God has not existed
    The Holy Spirit is eternal
    Hebrews 9:14 ESV
14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
    We are eternal
There is a part of us that will continue to exist outside of time
    Lk 16
    Matthew 17:1–4 ESV
1 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
    Matthew 17:6–9 ESV
6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. 9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”
on the cross Jesus said to the thief

    Why is Eternity

There was existence before time began, there will be existence and a state of affairs after time ends
We are told in scripture that the current state of affairs will come to a conclusion
God has bigger plans for us than this existence
We are the objects of Gods love
This was the plan from the beginning
43 times “eternal life” is mentioned in the ESV New Testament
God knows where we are going and has done all for us to join him in eternity
    Luke 23:43 ESV
43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
    John 14:2–3 ESV
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.

    Where is Eternity?

Eternity is not a place but there are places/things that are associated with eternity...
    Matthew 25:46 ESV
46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
in one place you get to experience eternal life...
in the other place you get to experience eternal punishment...
