Even for the theological layman, this unusually inexpensive collection offers a tremendous enrichment for one's own Bible study. For example, “The Complete Word Study: Old & New Testament (2 vols.)” has become an indispensable part of my daily Bible reading. The package has been put together in such a way that even a layman can easily work with Strong's numbers. A fairly inexpensive must-have book package, this “AMG Bible Essential”. Tip: A good addition to the package = “AMG's Comprehensive Dictionary of Old Testament Words”.

A good thought, a commentary series under the motto: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." and the implementation is convincing. But if already the "word" is spoken of, then John is missing at all corners and ends. So the series seems incomplete to me and in my opinion the central element of the NT to this motto is missing. Too bad.

Comprehensive, multi-layered and versatile. Person and action, historicity and divinity are considered at different levels and from different angles. A series that demands a lot from you and that is worth using every day.

Ein interessantes Buch mit einigen Schwächen. Oft werden Aussagen gemacht, die sich nur schwer oder gar nicht verifizieren lassen. So zum Beispiel verlegt der Autor den Zweifel der Autorenschaft an Johannes als Autor des Evangeliums auf die Zeit um ca. 1820. Diese kamen jedoch schon 1792 durch den englischen Theologen Evanson auf, der das Johannesevangelium einem platonischen Philosophen des 2. Jahrhunderts zuschrieb. An vielen Stellen des Buches werden auf zumindest unsauberen Annahmen, weitreichende Schlussfolgerungen gezogen. Wirklich stichhaltig wirkt das nicht. Gleichwohl ein interessantes Buch mit interessanten Gedanken zum Thema, wenn man sich darauf einlässt.
