- I have been thinking of buying this book, as our UK General Election has been called for 4th July. I therefore bought a print copy last weekend at the Big Church Festival in Sussex. This is an excellent book that gives the reader an insight into how the message of Jesus has been a positive influence on politics and power, but also how some leaders over the years have wrapped themselves in a 'Christian Flag' for their ends. This book helps the reader, as a Follower of Jesus, to understand the powers of today and how we need to bring the Light of the Christian Message to be an influence on today's political world. I have put the Logos Digital version on my Wish List.
- I have used The Passion Translation (TPT) alongside other Bibles, including UK NIV, MSG, CEV & MEV for many years in my own study and when preparing talks. I used to work in UK mainstream radio and in Christian radio in both the UK and Zambia and I find that when speaking with non-Christians and new Christians that both MSG & TPT are often very useful in placing the Christian message in understandable terms by using today's language. I had The Passion Translation in WORDsearch at the time Faithlife/Logos purchased that company and, in that version, the Psalms, Proverbs & Song of Songs were fully integrated with the New Testament. I look forward to those three books being moved from eBook format into Logos Research format. Logos is right in offering the TPT and anyone who wants to impose censorship on them needs to look at what happens in countries where censorship is the norm and Bibles are banned!! For those who don't like The Passion Translation (TPT), then I say to them that's your choice.
- I already use the TPT New Testament, Psalms, Proverbs & Song of Songs in both their WORDsearch and Kindle versions alongside other Bibles I have now in LOGOS. I find it a very useful 'paraphrase' to use to help make points to people in today's UK society together with the Hodder & Stoughton NIV, MSG, CEV and NKJV. I am just waiting for the full update TPT to be downloaded to LOGOS, hopefully this year. Blessings.
- How can this be a good translation when it is a paraphrase that corrupts what is said. The author is not a trained scholar and claims he was taken to Heaven and shown extra stuff to add, in particular to John. This book is endorsed by Bethel Redding which is a heretical church.
- Hi Doug. Maybe on this side of the pond, some of us Followers of Jesus - I am a Pentecostal Anglican, feel that we require a variety of Bible translations when talking about Scripture to other Christians and to the general population. My own palet of Bibles in Logos is over 25 with the main physical printed ones that I use are the NIV UK English followed by KJV, CEV, MSG and TPT. Blessings Peter
