- Pretty sound overall, but some sloppy theological articulations. Can be stuck in contemporaneity without reference to how the church has expounded scripture historically. Good systematics must incorporate the broad riches of thought through history while also addressing our current cultural moment.
- Why not suggest other resources rather than expect Grudem to write a likely 100 book volume on "how the church has expounded scripture" in it's 2000 year old "history".
- Sure! Herman Bavinck's 'Reformed Dogmatics' is a good example of this approach. For a great contemporary work, Robert Letham's one volume 'Systematic Theology' published by Crossway is wonderful, and comparable to Grudem's.
