- “The Practice of Prophetic Imagination” was written by Walter Brueggeman as an aid to the local preacher to help her relate to the prophets of the Old Testament. Brueggeman contends that the modern preacher is a scribe of the old prophets, articulating the ethics of the prophets for today’s people. At this point in his career, one has to wonder if Walter Brueggeman has to do any actual research to write a book or if he simply has to throw a collection of his notes into the air, assemble what has landed, and handed into the publisher. It would seem that there is some sort of vortex in his office that produces amazing work and this book is no exception.
