In 1 Thessalonians 3:1-6, Paul explains why he sent Timothy back to Thessalonica—to encourage the believers and strengthen them in their faith during a time of trial. While the letter is well known for its teaching concerning the coming of the Lord Jesus, it is equally a call to faithful and godly living in light of that promise.
