• I started teaching the early chapters of Genesis to our church recently. In preparation, knowing the importance of the first book of the Bible, I started doing a LOT of reading (I have a very large LOGOS library). As is (almost) always the case, a few commentaries are overly academic and not that beneficial for my task -- teaching to a general, but well-informed, congregation. A larger number of commentaries tend to be too general or too quick to avoid hard (controversial) verses. And then there are the few commentaries that I come back to time and again; Dr. Kissling's commentary is exactly one of those! Rather than being meticulously slow, Kissling's introduction to the book of Genesis wonderfully sets the stage for what's coming up in the text. His exposition is conservative, solid, thoughtful, and easy to follow. I highly recommend this work (two volumes in Genesis).
    1. The COMPLETE BIBLICAL LIBRARY has the potential to be 5-Stars, but as it is, it's only 3. I echo what Brent posted in his review; the Old Testament Interlinear has thousands of broken links! These "bugs" have been reported, but LOGOS does not at all seem intent on fixing the problem. I originally purchased the CBL suite of books via WORDsearch Bible, but when LOGOS acquired WORDsearch, the O.T. Interlinear got corrupted. Help!
      1. FIRST, this resource has the potential to be 5 Stars+. LOGOS inherited it from WORDsearch Bible (where I obtained it), but in the transfer to LOGOS it picked up some substantial bugs & limitations. I have reported those, but in the last response I received (May 2023) I was only told "if/when" they are corrected, etc... There's so much potential, it's a shame... SPECIFICALLY: Maybe a year ago (?) I reported that The Complete Biblical Library Old Testament Interlinear (CBL OT) does not always link the corresponding number to The Complete Biblical Library: The Old Testament Hebrew-English Dictionary. At that time, LOGOS verified and confirmed the "bug". The problem still persists, so I am wondering if/when it might be corrected? As an example, in GENESIS 1:1 -- the very first (compound) word has two numbers: "904" and "7519" -- but the second number is not linked to its definition; instead, it points to the same definition as the first number (#904)). This problem, limitation exists throughout the Old Testament. Help? THE REPLY: "I've linkd the case I made with Content Production to the case created with customer service via your email to us. We'll try to update you if/when we are able to resolve the problem."
        1. Use Wordsearch 11 I still using
        2. That is certainly an option. I sporadically still use WORDsearch, but LOGOS really is the better platform in so many ways. LOGOS isn't simpler, but it's more powerful and capable. I only wish they would fix such fundamental, pervasive flaws in this particular resource.
