Donald G. Fisher
- After reading enough technical commentaries that often dance around theological controversies, I was delighted to go through some of this set and I will continue as well to use it for a reference. For 3 cups of Starbucks this is more than worth its price. For the person who will fill in the pulpit or lead a Bible study, this is type of material that people need to hear, not the nuances of critical scholarship though that has a place for some. I agree with others in wishing there were an OT portion to this.
- If I could select any course(s) I wanted to from the Mobile Courses I would sign up in a heartbeat. Even if a person was limited to 3 per month this would be a great way to do this. This is a great idea and here is to hoping that some tweaking might be done on its implementation. By the way I already own 20 of the mobile courses and have enjoyed them immensely.
- I have been with this since the early days of Libronix and have loved and told others about this awesome tool, some which have led to them becoming official Logos users. For the first time in years I am able to devote some time to learning the latest features on Logos 6. After watching the You Tube videos today I decided to get my laptop out and follow along on the TV. Imagine my dismay when I could not find the Concordance feature or the Multiple Resource feature button on my tabs. After going to the help menu I learned about something new called Logos Now. For sure this must be included in my Gold Feature but apparently that thinking was premature. In order to do some "basic" functions such as concordance and side by side multiple sources I must now pay a monthly subscription. I have always loved this software and sing its praises but I think those days may be in the past. I understand the business model and all of that but at what point have I paid enough? $8 per month is not a lot and to be honest I will probably invest more in Logos. I just want to join the others in communicating that I am getting tired of the nickels and dimes. I appreciate your product but I can no longer sing the praises as I once did.
- Hear, hear, Mr. Fisher. I too feel constantly milked by Logos - as you say, when have I paid enough? If I hadn't had paid so much in the past number of years, I'd be tempted to go elsewhere. Let alone the fact that they are openly catering for unbiblical sects.
- Paul, I agree that there is an open market for unbiblical sects within Logos that has caused me concern. I came out of one of them myself and glad to have never looked in the rearview mirror. I do miss the Library building packages of years ago. Now that I am pushing 3,000 different books, I won't be ordering much with the exception of a few individual titles. I sure miss the Theological Journal updates as well as the Macarthur commentary set. I almost purchased the Expositor's set but when that price almost tripled for some reason I decided against it. I have that set through Pradis and wanted to incorporate it through Logos to have it on my iPad. Oh well. Thanks for the interaction .
- I also agree. I have been a member from almost the very beginning. The monetizing of Logos and its related companies into a profit-making company instead of a ministry is much like that of other "Christian" bookstores". They have the temptation to sell materials that seem far removed from a biblical foundation.
