- I'm a massive Spurgeon fan and I'm greatly appreciative of this resource. My one negative to this is that it doesn't have notes verse by verse. For example, I'm going through Colossians and there are notes for 2:6, 2:15, 3:1, etc. I just wish it was more thorough. However, the introductions to each book are FANTASTIC! They are very well written, give a phenomenal overview and historical setting for each book. I highly recommend this purchase.
- I now realize that I this is the older 1987 version that is very difficult to read. There are no quotation marks to tell you that this is a person speaking. As you can see below: Amplified 1987: Genesis 15:1 After these things, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am your Shield, your abundant compensation, and your reward shall be exceedingly great. Amplified 2015: Genesis 15:1 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram, I am your shield; Your reward [for obedience] shall be very great.” Additionally, there are no Strong's numbers or anything associated with the Logos version. I can't dig deeper or use it for research. The 2015 version includes more amplification in the Old Testament and refined amplification in the New Testament. I'd pass on this until it is updated to the 2015 version. Then I'd buy it with the Amplified Bible Study Guide!
- Thank you for pointing that out... without those quotations and such I do not find it as useful. thanks again brother.
