• This is an excellent introduction into the basics of philosophy from a christian perspective. Every christian, who is interested to explore a coherent argued account of the intellectual credentials of Christian belief, should read this newly updated book. The authors set up each chapter with an introduction to the topic, explaining different subjects within that particular topic. Arguments are clearly outlined and competing theories are presented with fairness and accuracy. Important terms and concepts are highlighted in bold. At the end of each chapter is a summary and a checklist of basic terms. Commenting on two examplary chapters: The chapter on the Trinity is a coherent presentation of the topic, showing that the Trinity is not an illogical or incomprehensible dogma. The chapter on the Incarnation explores the different teachings on the dual nature of the incarnated Jesus in the history of the church, showing their strength and their weakness as well. Finally proposing a coherent and plausible model of the Incarnation that is also faithful to the blblical record. Given the importance of philosophy for developing and defending a christian worldview, this book is an invaluable resource and I highly recommend it. I cannot think of any book in German, that treats philosophy from a Christian perspective so comprehensible and on such a profound level like this one. Finally I just want to note, that this resource is not an easy bedside reading. Sometimes hard thinking is necessary to follow the reasoning but in any case it´s worth the effort.
