• As someone who grew up in churches that taught the Pre-Trib rapture, it was a foregone conclusion until I heard Dr. Brown talk about this book (at the time before it came out). I had been raised in a more fundamentalist way of thinking, but as I've set aside my own preunderstanding of the Bible, and listened to scholarly discussion of various passages & debates; now I am a lot more open to hearing different sides of an issue & to decide for myself what what the Bible teaches. As I read this book, written by two scholars I respect, it challenged the foregone conclusion of Pre-Trib rapture. The basic question asked throughout the book is in essence is can Pre-Trib idea be found explicitly in the scriptures, cited by proponents? This book thoughtfully & loving presented a discussion that caused me to change my mind. This book persuasively shows that one has to assume the Pre-Trib rapture in order to find it in passages typically cited. Now I firmly do not believe the pre-trib rapture, and I agree more with the Historic Post-Millennial view as suggested in this book. Thank you Dr. Brown & Dr. Keener for writing this book & lovingly challenging the reader to look at the NT afresh without preconceived notions/understanding. I recommend this book to anyone who want to look a scripture afresh & discover what it says.
    1. First of all I didn't know that Faithlife had this book so I bought it somewhere else... The content of this book is wonderful for anyone who is interested in how Jesus/Yeshua makes sense in a Jewish context. In this book Mike Brown builds a compelling case, based primarily on Jewish/Rabbinic Sources, that what Jesus/Yeshua said and did as recorded in the New Testament make sense in a Jewish context, and especially the 2 Temple Jewish context of His day. He demonstrates through interacting with various Jewish Literature that the best explanation for Jesus, as recorded in the New Testament, is that He is the Messiah for Jews & everyone else. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is curious about Jesus in a Jewish context. It brings such clarity & illumination to a, at times, controversial subject.
