      1. Seasons Greetings folks! A quick memo here to let everyone know that somewhere signals got mixed up with NIFB and myself and somehow we ended up not having a shift booked for December. When I verified this with NIFB they said they were already booked up, so the good news is God is providing! Going forward they have asked me to switch over to using their “online portal” as a group leader to register volunteers for our group. While this is indeed a bit easier and likely more efficient, the caveat is they are requiring us to have our names in place for ALL our slots a cutoff/minimum 2 weeks in advance.  The way the system appears to be working is if I do not get our names in the 2nd Tuesday before our shift, we’ll loose the open slots, and the system will open them up to be scheduled for others at large. Over the past 3 years I’ve been doing this, we really didn’t have too many issues making sure we had a full group and getting commitments the week before or even just a day(s) before.  Plus the whole COVID thing made it so we couldn’t send extras in most cases and that was very straightforward.  My concerns about booking up to 15 people 2 weeks out is “a lot can happen in 2 weeks” and we’ll possibly have more cancelations as a result.  While that’s not a real big problem, and obviously un-preventable, it is a concern I’ll point out, for having to manage who’s in, who’s out and either getting a fill in or letting the slot go, which up until now I’ve not really had to manage at all and NIFB has always said they knew they could count on us. So this is just to share what’s going on with NIFB’s new system and why I’ll be asking for commitments over 2 weeks out.  :-) ***The offer is always standing that if anyone else would like to take over as “Group Leader” for NIFB, I’m happy to humbly have you take over :-)*** - Bill Pietsch
