- This commentary reads like a regular futurist commentary. It also has editor booboos. In his comments about Revelation 2:14, Longman referenced Numbers 25:14 but wrote, "After this divine command was given, an Israelite named Cozbi brought a Midianite woman (apparently allied with the Moabites at this point) into the camp." Ummm, Cozbi was the Midianitess, not the Israelite man.

- Odd since he is a reformed theologian.
- If you want to understand Genesis, ask a Jewish scholar. Cassuto writes like Rashi, whose commentary was intended for children but instructs adults. Cassuto's style is conversational instead of academic, and filled with low-hanging fruit. N. T. Wright said, "I read the commentary straight through." After reading it straight through, I understand why.
