- Yes, I agree. Even when this volume 1 was offered as a free book for no cost to me, I didn't want it. It's based on the unbelieving assertion that supernatural prophecy does not, or never did exist even in Biblical times. From that unbelieving framework, Blenkinsopp formulates a different framework for explaining every aspect of Isaiah's message. But the fork in the road is the basic premise that supernatural prophetic did not even exist in the time of the Old Testament prophets. It's similar to how academic liberal scholars refer to these prophetic books as being poetic works, rather than the raw voice of God given to the unbelieving nation of Israel who were heading into apostasy, the message being directly from the voice of God via the prophet.
