Brother Thomas B. Warren was a master teacher, defender of Truth, and a friend to preachers who love God’s Word. He had the capacity to clarify complicated, difficult-to-understand passages in the Bible. I am not aware of any preacher who has believed in the absolute authority of the Bible more than Bro. Warren. He used the Bible to answer the questions of life. I remember in a lesson at the Brown Trail School of Preaching, Bro. Warren saying, quite plainly these words. “Men do not need merely answers to religious questions. They need the right answers!” He went on to show us preaching students, how God’s book contains the right and final answer to all man’s questions. In my notes from that class I relay what he taught us regarding Scripture. The Bible is God’s: 1. Word—2 Peter 1:20, 21. 2. Limitation—2 John 9–11. 3. Mirror—James 1:23, 24. 4. Fire—(to refine and separate). Jeremiah 23:29; Malachi 1:2, 3. 5. Seed—Luke 8:11; Matthew 15:13. 6. Dynamite—Romans 1:16. 7. Hammer—Jeremiah 23:29. 8. Sword—Ephesians 6:17; Hebrews 4:12. 9. Food—(for man’s soul) —1 Peter 2:2. 10. Light—Psalms 119:105; Philippians 2:15, 16. 11. Warner—2 Timothy 4:1–5; Revelation 20:10–15. 12. Exporter—Acts 2:40; Revelation 21; 22. 13. Basis of judgment—John 12:48; Acts 17:30, 31. Let us stick to that standard and only true source of answers on what we must do to be saved. What we must do to please God. What is our duty to God, the church and our neighbors.
