- I appreciate this for what it is, and am glad for the notes that are there, but they are not as extensive as in my hard copy of the NET 2.0 (or the official online version of the 2.0 notes, for that matter). For example, the TC note on 1 Samuel 17:5 is approximately three times as long in my hard copy (and the note in the official online version) as the TC note on the same verse is in Logos—and the Logos and hard copy notes contradict each other in the exact measurements they give for the cubit. (I’ve attached screenshots as a comment on this review.) I’m not sure how many of the notes are shorter in this online version, but I’m glad I have my hard copy. Maybe the Logos version is still using the first-edition notes? I don’t have access to a NET 1.0, so I can’t confirm.
- Do you know how if they have corrected this?
- Sorry, the note is on 1 Samuel 17:4 (not 17:5), and they have not corrected this issue—I just checked.
- I have full notes from NET 1.0 and the notes that you have match perfectly. So I'd say they have the text of NET 2.0 and notes from NET 1.0
- I expected this to include the same material as my hard-copy Strong’s Concordance, but although it tells me how many times an English word occurs, it doesn’t list which verses the word occurs in. I don’t buy a concordance just to find out that φθόνος is translated as “envy” in 8 verses; I buy it to find out which 8 verses those are. As it is, 99% of the function of a concordance is lacking from this product.
- This article explains how to use Strong's Numbers in Logos. https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028307111-Using-Strong-s-Numbers
- Excellent article & thus... reply... I came to this page looking to buy this resource in order to do the same kind of search, "find out which those verses are..." but following the article, I learned how to get there without even use the Concordance... (1:15-1:20 "look up the BIBLE...) Logos is amazing!!! Thanks for post! Thanks for reply!
- , there may well be other ways to use Strong’s numbers, but the concordance doesn’t appear to be one of them. As I said, my hard-copy concordance lists every occurrence of a particular word, but the Logos concordance doesn’t list any occurrences, just tells me how many occurrences with no indication of which verses they are. By contrast, the Complete Word Study Concordance of the Old Testament does what I expect a concordance to do (“details every occurrence of every Hebrew and Aramaic word in the Old Testament by book, chapter, and verse”), based on the preview and its description: https://www.logos.com/product/165535/the-complete-word-study-concordance-old-testament Sadly I haven’t found a corresponding resource for the New Testament, though. There’s a Complete Word Study Dictionary for the New Testament by the same author (as there is for the Old, distinct from the concordance for the Old), but it isn’t an actual concordance and thus doesn’t list every occurrence. , thanks for pointing that out (and for the article pointing it out): right-clicking on a word (even without Strong’s numbers showing), selecting the Strong’s number in the right-click menu, and choosing the “Search: Bible” option does exactly what I’d expect a concordance to do. In which case my review of the actual Strong’s Concordance product stands, because it does not offer this functionality. To be honest I’m not sure what the purpose of this product is. I wouldn’t pay $10 to find out the number of occurrences to begin with, and as it happens Logos’s own Strong’s Bible search tells how many occurrences in addition to listing them. I’m very grateful for the tip—thank you both. Now I can do what I originally bought the Strong’s Concordance product hoping it would do. But it definitely only confirms my 1-star review of this particular product.
