Juan Palm
- An excellent translation. It is unafraid to bring across the messianic character of Old Testament passages that can be lost in modern translations. For a long time this translation was the standard in Lutheran Schools as it is extremely accessible to young readers without losing meaning like paraphrases do.
- A nice step by step Bible Study guide format. Pros + Good book outline + Intriguing translation of the text gives some insight into the Greek text without using any Greek words + Some good guiding questions to encourage thinking about the text. Cons - The Interpretation and Application sections are far from text driven or ecumenical. These sections import the author's pre-millenial and sacramentarian assumptions. Recommended use: Print it out, but don't mark for printing the Interpretation and Application sections Keep an eye out toward's the authors bias against Baptism.
