• I am writing as a Lay person here who has a taste of a couple of semesters of college. I don't need to comment on Dr. Keener's knowledge of interpretation, he knows more than me and I am happy to eat the crumbs off his table of knowledge. For me this course was a great intro and then (again for me) a deep dive into interpreting the bible in light of some of it's contexts, immediate and historical and genres. I really appreciated his format, and most of all some of the other writings that he pulled from to show me deeper contexts that I would have never arrived at on my own. These tools such as The New American Commentary and it's demonstration to me for historical context is something practical that I will use as I move on to study other parts of the bible on my own or as part of another course, or in preparation for a sermon if I am asked to cover the pulpit. I like the way Dr. Keener is leading me to understand and practice what he is teaching me. This Layman is very thankful for him and this work and was well worth the price. Glory to God, for even the Layman can meditate with others on the deep things of God.
