Thorough, insightful, uplifting, challenging, richly rewarding, full of application of eternal truth and beautifully done. The best NT Mobile Ed course I have taken to date. I've read the book of Hebrews countless times in the past and always gained some insight and encouragement. This time with Dr. DeSilva's course and exegetical skill, it came alive to me as never before. Well worth the effort and time to dig deeply into a most challenging NT book with His and his guidance. I felt I learned some keen insights of understanding from the exegesis of the passages, and Dr. DeSilva's love and deep commitment as well as the author of Hebrews love and deep commitment to live for Christ, and how, certainly commanded my respect and desire to grow more fully, more maturely in Christ. My mistake when I first approached this class was to rush into it, to get it done and it felt too slow. When I came back to it after a few months, I came back to listen with a heart to understand, rather than gain mere head knowledge, and the course came alive to me. In a sense, it became part of my devotional and meditation time as I conversed with the Lord on what I was gleaning through the text and from Dr. DeSilva's insight. There is rich fullness of Scripture that comes alive in His presence with a devotional approach through this course's material. A much richer understanding and motivation was gained, I believe much closer to the context and content the original author meant to convey. Have to say, I love Love DeSilva's commentary on the Book of Hebrews as well. Both the course and the commentary will be wonderful ongoing reference aids. I can understand some of the complaints but they are too harsh in my opinion. Dr. De Silva's introductory material is long and thorough and it took me a couple of tries to get through it to the meat of his verse by verse exegesis where the book of Hebrews comes alive. His voice is sonorous and some of the material fairly deep, but the take away for me was all reward. After completing the course, I went back through the introductory material and it seemed so right on, with a richness and insight I had missed with the first, quick try. I would look forward to other Mobile Ed classes by Dr. DeSilva. Most of all, I want to live up to the fullness of gratitude to God for what all He has done for me in His Son, Christ Jesus. This course, and Dr. DeSilva, have helped point the way with a lot of exhortation and encouragement. I fortunately fellowship in a local church of like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ and sense an even greater need to encourage and uplift them in their walk as they encourage and uplift me. Dr. DeSilva has certainly been used by the Lord in my life, to lift me up and encourage me in my further walk with the Lord. Time and money well spent for me in this Mobile Ed course.
