• Preparing for Worship - July 2, 2023

    I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart;

        I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

    I will be glad and exult in you;

        I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

    Psalm 9:1-2

    In only two short verses we see a wonderful expression of David’s heart for worship. This week as we gather, we will allow these words of Scripture to invite us into worship as well, compelling us to call to mind the wonderful deeds of our great God, and to praise and thank him with gladness and exultation. In response to this invitation we will lift our voices to sing All Creatures Of Our God And King and All Praise. Then it’s Titus 2:11-14 that points us to our “great God and Savior Jesus Christ” as we praise him  together in song, proclaiming How Great Thou Art.

    After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving followed by a fun and engaging Kids’ Time for all of our young worshipers. Drew Barnes will then continue our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, as he looks at Christ’s teaching on Traditions and Commandments in Matthew 15:1-9. We’ll continue in our worship through Communion, respond in song with The Heart of Worship and be sent out with a Benediction. Lastly, we hope you'll please plan to stay in the sanctuary after the service for a time of prayer for our pastoral search.

    Do you need prayer? Please let us know how we can be praying for you. You can drop a prayer request card in the giving box in the atrium, or send your prayer requests to: prayer@meadowsfamily.org

      It’s a special time of worship together this week as we highlight and celebrate our Caring Friends ministry! After an update on our Caring Friends ministry and a few brief Announcements we will have a fun and engaging Kids’ Time (be sure to grab an activity bag, kids!) Then, I will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, with a look at Matthew 14:34-36 when Jesus Heals the Sick in Gennesaret. Our Caring Friends will lead us once again as we respond to the word together in song and be sent out with a Benediction. Be sure to stay after our service for Fellowship Lunch!

      1. Preparing for Worship - June 18, 2023

        O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;

            my soul thirsts for you;

        my flesh faints for you,

            as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

        So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,

            beholding your power and glory.

        Because your steadfast love is better than life,

            my lips will praise you.

        So I will bless you as long as I live;

            in your name I will lift up my hands.

        Psalm 63:1-4

        Psalm 63 calls us to gather as God’s people this week, earnestly seeking him in worship. Beholding his power and glory, we praise him for his steadfast love, blessing him in song as we sing 10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord). As we hear the words of Ephesians 1:3-10, we continue to bless him who has so richly blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Jesus Christ! In response to the truth of our great blessing in Christ we sing Great Things and The Same Love.

        After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving followed by a fun and engaging Kids’ Time as we wish a happy Father’s Day to all our dads! Then, Mark Barnes will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, as he looks at Matthew 14:22-33 when Jesus Walks On Water. We’ll respond to the word together, proclaiming that There’s Nothing That Our God Can’t Do and be sent out with a Benediction

        1. Preparing for Worship - June 11, 2023

          I will extol you, my God and King,

              and bless your name forever and ever.

          Every day I will bless you

              and praise your name forever and ever.

          Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,

              and his greatness is unsearchable.

          Psalm 145:1-3

          What a wonderful invitation to worship! A commitment to give praise to the LORD every day, because he is great and greatly to be praised! These words will open our time of gathered worship this week as we read Psalm 145 together and respond to its clear call to worship as we sing Come Thou Fount Come Thou King. Then, in John 10:11-18 we hear the voice of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, laying claim to his sheep through the laying down of his own life for them. For us. This gospel truth prompts our worship to sing You Gave Your Life Away and God Is For Us.

          After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving followed by a fun and engaging Kids’ Time (kids get an activity bag, too!) Then, Stewart Pattison will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, with a message from Matthew 14:13-21  as we look at The Feeding of the Five Thousand. We’ll respond to the word together, proclaiming Lord I Need You and be sent out with a Benediction

          1. Summer Break

            By Cindy Goding

            Hello! Our weekly blog posts will be on hiatus for the summertime and will resume in the fall. We always appreciate guest writers! If you want to write a post, send it to women@meadowsfamily.org where it will be prepared to publish in the fall when weekly posts are back!

            Enjoy summer and be purposeful in your time in God’s word and in prayer!

            1. Preparing for Worship - June 4, 2023

              Psalm 98 gathers us in worship this week and calls us to “sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things!” The Psalmist goes on to detail what those marvelous things are: Salvation. Steadfast love. Faithfulness. These are the very things that draw us into worship as well, and so we begin with a song, proclaiming that the Lord is faithful, yesterday, now, and Always. We then turn to the New Testament to get a picture of what God’s salvation, steadfast love, and faithfulness look like on this side of the cross. Ephesians 2:13-22 says that it looks like us, who were far from God, being brought near by the blood of Christ. It looks like peace and reconciliation with God. It looks like membership in the household of God, unity in his name, being a holy temple in the Lord and a dwelling place for God himself. And all of this is built on the foundation of Jesus Christ! So in response to these things we’ll proclaim in song together Jesus Firm Foundation and King Of Kings.

              After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving and have a few brief Announcements, including recognition of our 2023 Graduates! Then after an always fun and engaging Kids’ Time, Drew Barnes will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, with a message from Matthew 14:1-12 as we look at The Death of John the Baptist. We’ll worship through sharing Communion together, sing of The Wonderful Cross, and then be sent out with a Benediction. And don’t forget to stick around after the service for cake in the Atrium with our graduates!

              Do you need prayer? Please let us know how we can be praying for you. You can drop a prayer request card in the giving box in the atrium, or send your prayer requests to: prayer@meadowsfamily.org

            2. Maycember

              By Marcia Jarrett

              I recently saw a video that was about May being busy like December but without the celebrations. Maycember Video Here. It was a reminder of how busy we often find ourselves during the end of ministry and school years. It is easy to finish all those activities and want to do absolutely nothing during the summer. I was challenged by this mindset during Bible study this past year.

              Amos 8:11-12 which says, "'The days are coming,' declares the Sovereign Lord, 'when I will send a famine through the land-not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it."

               Did you catch what the famine would be from? Hearing the words of the Lord. Wow! How much more do we need to KNOW the word of God on our hearts? It is easy to focus on the busyness of life and think that we need a break from all things in the summer, but I would challenge you. We need to thirst for the living water of God. Pay attention to what you are using to try to quench your thirst. Turn to God and His Word- especially if you find yourself drinking from sources other than Him. As we were reminded at Koinania, this does not have to be alone. We are encouraged to study God's word together! If you do not know where to start, contact Cindy to become part of a Discipleship pair as we study the book of James together. Together, let us be refreshed, restored and transformed through God's word this summer!

              1. Good words Marsha, Keeping you in my prayers as you prepare for the amazing VBS week to come. I am looking forward to some respite and regrouping following an extremely busy season and plan to do exactly what you encourage here. Love the video! I am a Holderness Family groupie. So funny!
            3. Preparing for Worship - May 28, 2023

              This week we open with words from Psalm 40. This Psalm calls us to put our trust in the Lord and to proclaim his deeds, enjoining us to seek him and to find our joy in him. The Psalm concludes asking of the Lord, May those who love your salvation say continually, “Great is the Lord!” and prompts a response of worship for us to sing Great Are You Lord. As those who love the salvation of the Lord, we proclaim the gospel truth of Galatians 2:20 and celebrate the life that we have in Christ as we sing Grace Alone and Grace Greater.

              After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving and have a few brief Announcements, followed by a fun and engaging Kids’ Time for all of our young worshipers. (Kids, don’t forget to grab your activity bag!) Then, Stewart Pattison will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, with a message from Matthew 13:53-58 as we see Jesus Rejected at Nazareth. We’ll close our time of worship in song, celebrating the day the Lord called us out of darkness into his Glorious Day, and then be sent out with a Benediction.

              Do you need prayer? Please let us know how we can be praying for you. You can drop a prayer request card in the giving box in the atrium, or send your prayer requests to: prayer@meadowsfamily.org.

              2. Preparing for Worship - May 21, 2023

                This week, Psalm 25:1-5 leads us into worship, pointing us to lift up our souls to the Lord. We’ll do this as we raise a prayer to the Lord in song, Be Thou My Vision. Then we hear from the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 1:12-17, reminding us that we, like Paul, are sinners in desperate need of a Savior, but that Christ came into the world to save sinners just like us! In response to the truth of the gospel, we’ll give glory and honor to him as we sing And Can It Be and Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me

                After our time of worship through Scripture and song, we will pray over our Giving and have a few brief Announcements, followed by a fun and engaging Kids’ Time for all of our young worshipers. (Kids, don’t forget to grab your activity bag!) Then, Drew Barnes will be continuing our Matthew sermon series, Kingdom Come, with a message from Matthew 13:47-52 on The Parable of the Net/New and Old Treasures. We’ll respond to God’s Word together by singing in worship to our God, the Ancient Of Days, and be sent out with a Benediction.
