Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
This is the same language as in Exodus referring to the law. Clearly, the writing here is not being literal and is not saying we should actually wear love and faithfulness around our necks so it is reasonable to believe that the Exodus passage can be taken in the same syumbolic manner.
