As Jacob is prepared to be gathered to his people in death, the family of promise makes arrangements which anticipate the fulfillment of God's promises. Moses writes this narrative of this miniature exodus in Genesis 49:29—50:14 with masterful allusions to the future exodus of the people of Israel. Will they find favor in the eyes of the king?

God, the Mighty One of Jacob, delivers a prophetic message for each of the sons of Israel through their father's last words. Some encouraging, some blessing, some cursing and shameful; the future tribes of Israel will live in the shadow of this moment for the rest of their existence. This sermon will highlight Jacob's prophecies for 3 of his sons and their tribes in Genesis 49.
