It is lamentable to undertake such a substantial research effort only to be deprived of access to the foundational Aramaic manuscripts. Such a circumstance is not only an inefficiency but also a disservice to the scholarly community. The allocation of resources and time towards this pursuit, without the means to delve into the primary source material, renders the endeavor incomplete and potentially compromised.

Outstanding Series. Required Reading.

This is the best current treatment of this material on an intermediate level. I believe he strikes an amazing balance, giving an honest ear to voices on all sides. If I had to choose one commentary for 1 John out of my vast logos library, this is it. Totally underrated.

This resource has proven to be an invaluable asset. I understand the desire of the negative reviewers to have an interactive version, but it's not rocket surgery to glean that data elsewhere. After all, Logos is, if nothing else, a powerful search tool.

I've read dozens of Commentaries on 1 John, all have value. However, this is in a class of its own. I also suggest the companion audiobook, for emersion.
