Method for study of authority in systematic theology.
What is our responsibility with respect to critically assess theological construct proposals? what role does the Bible, reason, tradition, experience play?
Are the insights of others valid input to expand conceptual framework, so that we can discern what is best aligned with he Bible, and the nature and character of God?
In the introduction hand out the following is outlined:
"How do you do this?
Deductiveapproach–Heb.13:17-
InductiveBibleStudy–
Combination-Acts17:11“NowtheseJewsweremorenoblethanthosein Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.” See also Acts 15:5-23"
Heb 13:17 is very interesting. Does that verse imply that we are to blindly obey and submit, or are we expected to see if their theological constructs, orthopraxis and the like align well with the Bible and especially with the weightier matters of the law: the love of God, the Holy Spirit, mercy, justice, charity, godliness?
Can the insight of a beloved brother help us put things in perspective?
If our churches want to disciple and empower nations, we must focus on discipling people first.
HOW TO EMPOWER OTHERS. HOW TO EXPLOIT OTHERS
allow them to function give them functions
believe in them make them believe in you
delegate authority require submission
further God’s plan for them make them part of your plans
invest in them use them
love them, and say so love the task more than the people
give them what you have take what they have to give
discuss with them preach at them
freely spend time with them require appointments
give them the keys now make them wait until you retire
serve them let them serve you
praise them accept their praise of you
transfer masterhood demonstrate masterhood

So the question is: does God empower believers, or exploits them? If He empowers, and a system exploits, does that system is aligned with the nature and character of God?
God gave us rationality to use it. A system that discourages critical thinking and does not go in detail in things like the above, could be considered a legit authority to submit to?
If unquestioned submission and obedience is forced or expected by a group, and their orthopraxis does not align with the best of the Bible in terms of love, justice, mercy, charity, good will, empowerment and the like, could it be considered a true Bride of Christ?
Just for further research, reflection and comment.
