Romans 1
-The writer of Romans is Paul, previously known as Saul of Tarsus. (Acts 7:8; 9:11) Paul said he was a servant of Christ Jesus, here he is showing us his character of humility and submissiveness toward Christ.
-Some become confused in the idea that Paul could call himself an apostle means he was not one of the original 12 men chosen by Jesus. Paul is saying here that he has the same authority given to that of the 12 disciples as he too was commissioned by Christ to speak and act on special authority.
-The word used in the Greek for (set apart) is aphorizō- describes the setting of something or someone apart for a particular function or task.
- Paul was born a Roman, a man who recognized God's salvation plan for the Gentiles and so the people who were not Jews became his missionary focus.
- Paul describes how God has clearly revealed Himself to all so that no one will be with excuse. God not only revealed Himself, but has given to man what his desire has been, whether it be of evil or of God.
