This week at SWITCH, we looked at the Christmas story through the eyes of the innkeeper. I’m pretty sure that if the innkeeper knew the identity of the baby Mary was carrying, he would have tossed someone out of the inn and given his best room to Mary and Joseph. If you are a Christian, then you have given Jesus the key to your heart. Think about your house for a moment. Just because I give you the keys to my front door, doesn’t mean you can use that same key to unlock the bathroom or the storage shed. Jesus may have the key to your heart but have you turned over the keys to every room in your heart. Our heart has different rooms based on the things we love such as money, hobbies, relationships, habits, food and then there are our thoughts and imaginations. Jesus wants the whole heart. I know of some Christians in the past who wouldn’t turn over keys to certain rooms in their hearts because of what they believed was hidden behind the doors. Also, they had rooms that they wanted to have total control over. Jesus is knocking. Are you saying “No one is here” or “You can’t come in this room”. Jesus says in the book of Revelation-
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.”
Revelation 3:20 ESV
If you hear him knocking, please give Him total access to your heart.
