Joel B. Green (Ph.D., University of Aberdeen) is Dean of the School of Theology and Professor of New Testament Interpretation, Fuller Theological Seminary. In addition, he continues to administer Fuller Seminary’s Center for Advanced Theological Studies.

Prior to his appointment at Fuller Seminary in 2007, Dr. Green was Professor of New Testament Interpretation at Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky (1997-2007), where he also held positions first as Dean of the School of Theology and then as Vice President of Academic Affairs / Provost. He has served on the faculties of the American Baptist Seminary of the West and Graduate Theological Union, and New College Berkeley, Berkeley, California, a graduate school of Christian and interdisciplinary studies for the whole people of God.

Dr. Green has authored or edited more than 40 books. Recent publications include Why Salvation? (2013), The World of the New Testament: Cultural, Social, and Historical Contexts (co-editor, 2013), Ears That Hear: Explorations in Theological Interpretation of the Bible (co-editor, 2013), Wesley, Wesleyans, and Reading Bible as Scripture (co-editor, 2013), Practicing Theological Interpretation (2011), Body, Soul, and Human Life: The Nature of Humanity in the Bible (2008), and Seized by Truth: Reading the Bible as Scripture (2007).

He has written extensively on the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, Christian perspectives on personhood, the significance of Jesus’s death, and issues of biblical interpretation.

Professor Green is editor of the New International Commentary on the New Testament (NICNT), co-editor of the Two Horizons Commentary on the New Testament (THCNT), editor of the series Reframing New Testament Theology, and co-editor of the series Studies in Theological Interpretation. He is the editor-in-chief of Journal of Theological Interpretation, and serves on the editorial boards of Theology and Science, and Science & Christian Belief.
