The written material from The BEB says that the Hassidim aided the Hasmoneans because of the claim to the priesthood, shouldn't that read the Monarchy
- Been away from this platform for some Time but I now realized my error in this post. It should say that the Hassidim aided the Hasmoneans but abandoned them because they did not agree with their claim to the monarchy. The written material had the priesthood. It couldn't be that because the Hasmonians/ Maccabeans were of the priesthood.
