I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve. After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.
(1 Corinthians 15:3–8).
Christianity is not a "system of thought," a "theory of life," or anything like this. Christianity is a commitment, obedience, and devotion to the man who died and then rose from the dead. There were witnesses galore. People's lives were changed and continue to be changed by the reality of this historical event. This is about history, not philosophy.
Are you following a religion or are you committed to the person of Christ? Are you following rules or do you have a relationship with God through the man who rose from the dead?
Christ does not call us to set aside our brains . . . He calls us to examine and believe the FACTS.
