- Insight from Butler's Daily Bible Reading: Exodus 33—Repairing the Damage. Some damage repair work needed to be done after the sin. This chapter records four distinct incidents which helped to repair the damage from the sin of the people regarding the golden calf. •First, stating of God’s orders: God tells Moses to lead Israel to Canaan; but an angel, not God, will go before them. •Second, seeking of God’s forgiveness: Moses set up a tent where those who wanted to seek God could go to meet Him. •Third, supplicating for God’s presence: Moses wanted more than an angel to go with them, he wanted God to go with them. •Fourth, seeing of God’s glory: Moses got a very special vision of God’s glory in the mount.
